this school fish offers always big action on the line, reaching a speed of over 50knots the Dorado is a light tackle super-action.
weight in our locals averages 15 - 40 lbs, but we get several 50 - 70+ lbs Mahis seasonly. we catch Dorados, also named Dolphin Fish and Mahi Mahi, all over the year, their main season with big schools right in front of our coast is November - July.
Dorados are caught far offshore and right in front of the reef in our local waters, mostly found near something floating on the sea's surface, by weed lines and in current brakes in waters ranging 70 - 80'F.
Dorados take nearby any kind of bait, naturals like Ballyhoo or Flying Fish and also artificials and Lure/Ballyhoo combos are mostly used in the area.
